Experienced Ambient Air Monitoring Technician/Engineer
(Helena MT/Billings MT)

Bison Engineering, Inc., is a Montana-based, employee-owned environmental engineering firm with over 40 years of experience in helping our clients comply with air quality regulations. We specialize in air quality permitting, emissions testing, ambient air monitoring and gas flow monitor design and manufacturing. We are looking for an individual with project management experience to join our Ambient Monitoring group in our Helena or Billings, MT office.

Interested applicants would preferably have at least three years’ experience in ambient air and meteorological data collection, quality assurance, data processing and reporting, preparation of quality assurance plans for approval by state and federal regulatory agencies, and performance of audits, calibrations and maintenance on a variety of ambient monitoring systems, continuous stack emissions monitoring systems and several types of continuous gas analyzers. The position includes sample filter weighing and quality assurance activities for balances, standard weights, and gravimetric lab environmental control equipment. Other related experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

A two or four-year technical degree is preferred but candidates with sufficient experience will be considered. Technical requirements for the position include a working knowledge of regulatory requirements; an ability to operate, maintain and repair equipment; and proficiency in algebra, MS Word and Excel. Applicants should possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, good leadership skills, and the ability to work independently and in teams.

This challenging position will include regional travel and the nature of the work is, at times, physically demanding, performed in outdoor and industrial settings, and often at elevated heights. A commitment to workplace safety is essential and employees will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. The successful candidate will focus on ambient project management where he/she will perform field work, prepare written reports; coordinate with clients, team members and regulatory personnel; manage budgets/schedules, and work to secure new projects.

Salary: $34.00 - $49.00 per hour

Experience Source Testing Project Manager (Helena MT)

Bison Engineering, Inc., a Montana-based employee-owned, environmental engineering and consulting firm, is looking for a source testing project manager.

This is a hands-on role that will be responsible for the Project Management and performance of source tests for our clients. This opportunity will include regional travel and the nature of the work is, at times, physically demanding, performed in outdoor and industrial settings, and often at elevated heights. A commitment to workplace safety is essential and employees will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. The successful candidate will prepare written test protocols and reports; perform emission tests; collaborate with clients, team members and regulatory personnel; manage budgets/schedules, and work to secure new projects.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • 5 Years Experience in emission testing with instrumental and isokinetic EPA testing methods.
  • 4 Year Technical degree
  • QI or QSTI certification
  • Working knowledge of regulatory testing methods
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Ability to successfully operate independently & in a team environment

Salary: $39.00 - $54.00 per hour

Experienced Air Quality Consultant/Project Manager

Bison Engineering, Inc., is a Montana-based, employee-owned environmental engineering firm with 42 years of experience in helping our clients comply with air quality and environmental regulations. We specialize in air quality permitting, emissions testing, ambient air monitoring, and gas flow monitor design and manufacture. We are recruiting for an experienced staff or project engineer/scientist for our Consulting Services Department.

We will consider applicants with a four-year engineering or other technical degree. A minimum of four to five years of environmental experience in industrial, regulatory, and/or consulting settings are required. Experience in environmental consulting is preferred specifically in emissions inventories, Title V permitting, minor source permit applications, toxic release inventories, greenhouse gas accounting, air dispersion modeling, Tier II reporting, environmental assessments, and environmental impact statements.   Applicants should have background or interest in learning stationary source air quality regulations and proficient with the Clean Air Act, NSPS, and MACT regulations. Technical requirements for the position include the ability to learn and interpret environmental regulations, to use compliance management tools, and to manage client relationships. Applicants should possess strong written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to work independently and on teams.
